Through research and innovation, Nicola has a passion for advancing health care within the province and abroad. Currently, she is a Business Development Officer for Health at NorQuest College, overseeing skills training courses that are in need by industry. Previously, her work as a Director of Business Development with a local start-up company (Metabolomic Technologies Inc.) and Manager of Partnerships and Memberships for a provincial Life Science Industry Association (BioAlberta). Her past experience have allowed her to connect industry, government and academia to advance, advocate for and promote innovation in health. She also has experience as a business analyst, creating various assessments for TEC Edmonton and the Li Ka Shing Applied Virology Institute. Before gaining business experience and education, she worked as a research technician with Dr. Tyrrell at the University of Alberta on the HCV optimizing in vitro
and in vivo
systems. Nicola’s educational background includes a Master of Science and a Master of Business Administration at the University of Alberta.
At home, Nicola embraces the chaos of two young boys finely balanced with wine, two black labs, running, time with her husband, binging Netflix and audiobooks.
