This class is designed for students with no or little prior knowledge of the Cree language. The course begins by covering the sound system and vowel and consonant sounds, along with groups of sounds associated with spoken and written Cree. The focus for this introductory course will be greetings, introducing oneself, and farewells, personal and emphatic pronouns, family terms, objects around the house, rooms and buildings, basic commands and requests, asking basic questions, simple sentences involving action and description verbs, and complex sentences with subject-action-object construction. Vocabulary introduced in this course will allow students to formulate simple dialogues during class time to use outside class.
