This course provides students with the ability to retrieve, organize, analyze, and visualize data through the visual analytics platform, Tableau. An introduction to descriptive statistics used to analyze health data, combining theory and practical calculations, will be covered. As a final project with employer partners, students will be expected to have a published and presented a visualization of a dataset, which can be used in their resume/portfolio.


This course can be completed entirely online, at your pace over 16 weeks and takes approximately 30 hours to complete. There will be one online synchronous component where you have the opportunity to meet with an industry expert to review your final project before submission.

A level of technology competence is recommended which includes proficiency in navigating the internet, utilizing word processing programs (e.g Microsoft Word) and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel).

A working computer or laptop with specifications that can download the Tableau visualization software.
