Program Details

Program Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older at the time of application
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 50% or higher in English Language Arts 30-1 or 30-2*
  • Official transcripts or academic assessment may be submitted in order to meet English Language Arts requirement
  • Advanced First Aid, EMR, EMT, Paramedic or Medical First Responder certificates
  • Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q)
  • Note: Learners who have completed prerequisite firefighter courses at other institutions, see the NorQuest College’s Transfer Credit guide for more information.
     

English Language Proficiency Requirements
For learners whose first language is not English, proof of English language proficiency (ELP) must be submitted prior to admission. The ELP requirement is separate from the English academic admission requirement, and must have been written within two years of application to the program.

Acceptable evidence of English language proficiency can be any of the following test scores:

  • CLBA: No sections scores below 7
  • IELTS Academic: 6 (no section scores below 5.5)
  • TOEFL iBT: 71+
  • CELPIP General: 7 (no section scores below 6)
  • CAEL: 60+
  • A combination of 80% in Listening/Speaking 7000 (ESLS7000) or Listening/Speaking 7100 (ESLS7100), and 80% in Reading/Writing 7000 (ESLW7000) or Reading/Writing 7100 (ESLW7100
