This course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to perform firefighting inside or outside of an industrial enclosed structure or building when the fire has not progressed beyond the incipient stage.

Work-relevant entry level training

The course content includes all the knowledge and skills required to initiate communications using facility communications equipment; respond to alarms, manually controlling fires and property conservation activities; returning equipment to service; performing fire safety surveys; and completing incident reports. 

Course Duration

  • Online Theory: 20-30 hours of learning
  • Practical Skills: 3 days, location and dates TBD however usually a Spring and Fall session will be available.

Textbooks can be purchased through the Alberta Fire Chiefs Association Bookstore prior to the start date of course:

PPE and Bunker Gear

Bunker gear, PPE and any other equipment required for the practical skills training and/or evaluation is available for rent. Students will be notified if any additional fees are required.

Certification Requirements

**Please note that in order to be eligible for certification through the OFC, and to apply for IFSAC and ProBoard certifications you must also complete NFPA 472 Awareness Level as this is a pre-requisite for certification.**
