Develop first medical response techniques used in firefighting, policing, and medical response

The First Medical Responder (FMR) course, recognized by Alberta Health Services for firefighters, provides a theoretical and practical framework of training.

The FMR course is taught using the Canadian Red Cross curriculum, is approved by Workplace Health and Safety for Advanced First Aid, and is recognized by Alberta Health Services for the firefighting profession based on the enhanced skill sets learned.

In most cases, FMR is the minimum requirement for a number of services including fire departments, police, medical responders, and industrial companies.

The FMR course focuses on the theory and practical skills needed to respond to medical emergencies in the field and exceeds the Alberta Health Services Program designated protocols for Medical First Responders. It also includes Alberta Health Services' "enhanced skills" for First Medical Responders.
