Develop the Emergency Medical Response Techniques

The Advanced First Aid (AFA) safety course is designed to teach the knowledge and skills needed to respond to medical emergencies in the field.  Advanced First Aid is valuable for people seeking employment as a Workforce First Aid Attendant as well as anyone seeking a career as a First Responder. Our course will give you the skills to treat people with pre-hospital medical care using the Canadian Red Cross curriculum and the Emergency Care for Professional Responders textbook.  This course is useful for people looking at a career in EMS, firefighting, police, wilderness guides, and industrial first aid attendants or anyone looking to increase their knowledge and ability to assist in an emergency situation and increasing the safety of their community.

This course utilizes practical skills scenarios to prepare you for emergency response as well as the background medical knowledge required to understand the interventions taken.  Our instructors have experience as Professional First Responders and will bring their real world knowledge and scenarios to the class.

Admission Requirements

Standard First Aid with CPR Level C

*Student must present an unexpired Standard First Aid CPR Level C Certificate.  Email a copy of the certificate to and present your Standard First Aid Certificate to your instructor on the first day of class.

Canadian Red Cross Emergency Care for Professional Responders and is provided at the course.


Upon successful completion of the course students will receive:

Canadian Red Cross Advanced First Aid Certification with CPR and AED Level Basic Life Support (BLS) - Valid for 3 years
