NorQuest Continuing Education & Custom Training offers a variety of programs and individual courses to help you enter into a career as a Firefighter or First Responder. Our programs range from entry level to more advanced courses allowing for career succession and advancement.

Preparing you for a successful career in Fire and Rescue

All fire and safety training taught at NorQuest College is held to industry standards set by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), preparing you for a satisfying career in the fire and emergency service sector.

NorQuest is authorized by the Office of the Fire Commissioner (OFC) as a training provider; after completing our programs and courses you are eligible to apply for IFSAC and ProBoard certification, which are internationally recognized.

Fire & Public Safety
Program

NFPA 1001–Firefighter Training Program

This program includes all the essential courses required to start your career as a firefighter. You will first complete the online theory portion with the support of an online, interactive, certified Fire Service Instructor followed by comprehensive practical skills training with ample hands-on learning. This training is held over four weeks at an approved training site.

At the end of the program, you will complete accredited written exams and perform practical skills evaluations as required to apply for international certification.

NFPA 1021–Fire Officer Training

The NFPA 1021–Fire Officer Training program is designed for firefighters who want to become a supervisory officer in a fire department. Through theory and practical skills training, you will be given the training needed to seamlessly transition into the important role of a supervisory company officer or a management-level position.

NFPA 1041–Fire Service Instructor Training

The NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor Training program is designed for those who wish to transition from a firefighting career into the role of a fire service training instructor.

This program is tailored to professionals working in the fire service industry who want to broaden their horizons and take on the role of a mentor and trainer to the next generation of firefighters.

Course

NFPA 1081–Industrial Firefighter (Incipient Level)

Obtain the knowledge and skills to perform firefighting inside or outside of an industrial enclosed structure or building when the fire has not progressed beyond the incipient stage.

These skills are often required as entry-level training for work within the oil and gas industry, as well as in a safety watch role on any worksite.

Whether you are an individual or an organization looking for training for your staff, the Canada-Alberta Job Grant can help save on the costs. Many of our continuing education and custom training programs qualify for the grant. What does that mean? With the grant, you can save two-thirds of the costs.
